Three Laveen Students Receive “I Can Do It!” Award

Three of Laveen’s special education students have been recognized with the 2021 “I Can Do It!” award.

Jesus Milan Valenzuela, MC Cash 8th grade student; Mia Carbajal, Laveen 7th grade student; and Brianna Gonzales, Laveen 7th grade student were nominated for the award presented by the Arizona Council for Exceptional Children.

This award recognizes students for excelling, despite their disability, in academics, art, athletics, community service, employment, self-advocacy, technology or independent life skills.

Jesus was nominated by teacher Lauren DiDonna, Mia was nominated by teacher Leah Hall, and Brianna was nominated by Speech Pathologist Kim Horack.
