Logan Wasie Receives Excellence in Education Award

Each year one teacher from each school is selected to receive the district’s Excellence in Education Award. This prestigious award is given to those who attain high academic achievement for their students, provide exceptional service and leadership at their school, and make a positive difference outside of the classroom and in the community.

Congratulations to Laveen Elementary School- 6th grade Teacher- Logan Wasie. Mrs. Wasie was recognized at the district’s annual all-staff celebration last week.

Governing Board Signs Resolution Urging State Legislature to Override Aggregate Expenditure Limit

On Wednesday, February 9, Laveen’s Governing Board unanimously approved a resolution urging the Arizona State Legislature to immediately pass a resolution that singularly, with no other stipulations, overrides the Aggregate Expenditure Limit for the Fiscal Year 2022, and that the Arizona Legislature approves and the Governor signs a new law that provides a permanent solution to the Aggregate Expenditure Limit issue.

Laveen School is an A+ School of Excellence

Congratulations to Laveen School for being named a 2022 A+ School of Excellence by the Arizona Educational Foundation!

The A+ School of Excellence program is a comprehensive school assessment program that celebrates outstanding public schools. Schools complete an extensive application which is then followed by site visits by members of the AEF. The A+ School of Excellence™ designation is valid for a three-and-a-half-year period.

Laveen School joins Vista del Sur Accelerated Academy, Rogers Ranch School, M.C. Cash School, and Trailside Point Performing Arts Academy in receiving this prestigious award.

Representatives from the Arizona Educational Foundation will present the school with an official banner.

Tanner Community Development Corporation Donates Mindfulness Supplies

Representatives from the Tanner Community Development Corporation recently visited Laveen School to learn more about their mindfulness program.

They were so impressed with the program, they coordinated a donation of furniture and mindfulness supplies for the school through their “Help Enrich African American Lives” (HEAAL) program. Representatives from HEAAL dropped off the items at Laveen. These items will be used to enhance existing healing rooms and also add a “satellite” mindfulness area to the library.
